Remote seminar held for engineers in Latin America

This morning, we held a remote technical seminar for engineers from Japanese communities in Latin America. This seminar was held as part of JICA's (Japan International Cooperation Agency) "Trainee Acceptance Program for Japanese Communities." Normally, participants from Latin America come to Japan for training, but this year, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the seminar was held remotely.

Approximately 20 people, including engineers, from Brazil, Peru, and Paraguay participated in the remote training, which was conducted in three languages: Japanese, Spanish, and Portuguese.

President Endo introduced the progress of the recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake in Tomioka Town, where the company's headquarters is located, and the company's business. He then explained the theme of this training, "3D surveying technology and the use of 3D data," by explaining examples of how 3D data is used in our company and in Japan in the following fields: 1) Equipment used for 3D surveying, 2) Forests and cultural properties, 3) Design and urban development, and 4) Agriculture.

Participants also asked questions based on their own circumstances, such as, "Is it possible to apply this technology in tropical rainforest areas?"
We hope that next year the coronavirus pandemic will be contained so that we can exchange technology directly.
