Initiatives towards archiving Okuma Town Kumamachi Elementary School
3D surveying of Okuma Town Kumamachi Elementary School (currently in a difficult area) using UAV (drone). Records and memories will be preserved.
Kumamachi Elementary School in Okuma Town. It's about 4km away from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in a straight line. It's within the difficult-to-return zone. Five and a half years have passed since 3/11, but time seems to have completely stopped. Seeing it up close, it's especially moving because it's my hometown.
School bags and textbooks are strewn about the classrooms. Jackets are still hanging in the hallways. And trees have grown in the schoolyard, making it hard to believe it's a schoolyard. Time has passed, but it's clear that the facilities are decaying. While the world may be fading from memories of the earthquake, this area is steadily deteriorating, and its history and culture are being lost.
The culture and history that have been developed over many years must now be preserved in their current form.

Jackets and coats are still hanging in the hallway.
The desk remains in a mess.
