Recent events at Tomioka Head Office (BBQ & Elementary School Students)
Last week, in the evening, we held a BBQ with our employees on the deck in front of the community conference room at our Tomioka headquarters. Tomioka has many people who work away from home, including myself, so it was really nice to have a BBQ outdoors with the sea breeze in the air. We also invited passersby to join us. We hope to be able to talk about the future of the town with the few people still active in Tomioka.
This morning, I picked up trash in my neighborhood for the first time in about a week. I saw a first-grader wearing a yellow hat in front of an apartment building near my company, and his mother seeing him off. When the elementary school student saw me, he greeted me with a lively "Good morning." His energy was so strong that it gave me a lot of energy. Two months ago, I hadn't seen any children in my neighborhood. I sincerely hope that our generation can create a hopeful example for the children who will be responsible for the future of our community.
