Please tell us why you decided to join Futaba.
A classmate who had evacuated said, "I want to go back to town, but I can't."
When I was in elementary school, I experienced the earthquake, and a classmate who evacuated from Namie Town said to me, "I want to go back to town, but I can't," which made a lasting impression on me. Since then, I wanted to be involved in Fukushima's reconstruction efforts. So, while I was attending university in Saitama Prefecture, I learned about Futaba, a company involved in the reconstruction of Futaba County, at a joint company information session hosted by Fukushima Prefecture for people returning to their hometowns for work. I majored in tourism from a cultural anthropology perspective at university, and I applied, thinking that the knowledge and thinking I learned there could be put to use in Futaba's urban development projects.
Please tell us about the atmosphere you felt inside the company after joining the company.
There are no barriers and it's easy to communicate
I feel that communication within the workplace is very easy. My mentor sits at the desk next to me, so it's easy to ask questions and seek advice. I thought that in a company, I wouldn't have many opportunities to interact with people in higher positions, so I was surprised that more people than I expected spoke to me.
Additionally, the company building has an open ceiling and is bright, making it a comfortable working environment.
What are your thoughts on entering the construction consulting industry?
I want to study every day and do things that only I can do.
I started out without the necessary knowledge or qualifications to work in the construction consulting industry, so I am studying every day. However, I believe there are some things that only I, who have studied a different field, can do, so I will work hard to make the most of my skills.
What are the interesting, difficult, and exciting aspects of the construction consulting industry?
Listening to the voices of local residents
In the planning team I belong to, it is interesting to hear directly from local residents and reflect that in the results, and I think that is what makes the job rewarding.
What kind of engineer do you want to be in the future?
To become an engineer who can listen to the real voices of local people
I would like to work in town development in a way that will please the local people. To do this, I think I first need to have the same attachment to Tomioka as the residents and get to know the area. I also want to participate in events that involve local people on a daily basis and communicate with them so I can hear their real opinions.
Message to job seekers
When in doubt, remember a memorable experience from the past.
During your job search, there may be times when you don't know what kind of job you want to do or what you want to do. At times like these, try to remember memorable memories from the past or other formative experiences you had. We would be honored if you chose Futaba.
