Futaba Corporation and Satellite Data Service Planning Co., Ltd. begin exploring a disaster information provision service using satellites and drones
Futaba Corporation (Head office: Tomioka-machi, Futaba-gun, Fukushima Prefecture; CEO: Hidefumi Endo; hereinafter referred to as "Futaba") and Satellite Data Service Planning Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Kazutaka Kumeno; hereinafter referred to as "SDS") have begun considering a disaster information service for municipalities using satellites and drones.
This collaboration aims to combine Futaba's drone utilization know-how with SDS's satellite data utilization know-how to provide useful information to municipalities.
Futaba has experience in conducting surveys and measurements using drones both during normal times and when disasters occur, while SDS serves as the operational secretariat for the Japanese Disaster Charter*1, which uses multiple types of satellites to conduct emergency photography, and has advanced know-how in utilizing satellite data.
