People from African countries visit our company as part of Hope Tourism

Today, as part of the Hope Tourism Monitor Tour for JICA trainees, our Tomioka headquarters was visited by representatives from Africa (Egypt, Senegal, Cameroon, and Kenya), JICA, Fukushima Prefecture, and the Fukushima Tourism and Logistics Exchange Association. Despite the limited time of just over an hour, I gave presentations on topics such as the company's reopening and return after the earthquake and nuclear accident, the challenges facing my hometown, and the potential of Fukushima Prefecture. While I have had opportunities to speak in English at work and at academic conferences, this was my first presentation in English on the earthquake and recovery. I was a little nervous, but I believe I was able to get my point across to the African participants. They all asked active questions, which I believe piqued their interest. I hope they were able to see what Fukushima will look like 10 years from now and appreciate the strength of Futaba County, Fukushima Prefecture, and Japan as a whole.
