Visiting Miyagi University to learn about park planning

Last week, I went to Miyagi University. I learned a lot about parks (such as the Reconstruction Memorial Park) and plazas that will promote future resident life and interaction in the disaster-stricken areas. I was reminded of the importance of taking into consideration the local climate and culture, and of involving residents from the planning stage onwards. In particular, in Futaba County, where people are still being forced to evacuate due to the nuclear accident, it is important to create parks that have a handmade feel, led by local residents.
