First Chardonnay harvest in Tomioka and preparations for vinification in Yamanashi
Last Saturday (September 26th), we were able to harvest approximately 180kg of Chardonnay, one of our main varieties, at the Obama field in Tomioka Town.
A total of about 40 people participated, including two local junior high school students and six members of the social welfare council. It was really great to see so many people get to experience harvesting.
The harvested grapes are brought to Sanyo Brewery in Yamanashi City, Yamanashi Prefecture, where they are aged in oak barrels.

Sanyo Brewery in Yamanashi City, Yamanashi Prefecture, has destemmed the first Chardonnay harvested in Tomioka. We look forward to the wine they produce next year. Thank you, President Yamada.
It's been four and a half years since I started growing wine grapes in Tomioka Town. A lot has happened so far. I'm really happy to be able to make wine from grapes from my hometown, but the many friends I've naturally made through wine are a precious treasure.

The September 29th edition of the Fukushima Minpo newspaper featured an article about the Tomioka Chardonnay harvest that took place last week. We will treasure the words of the Tomioka Junior High School students who voluntarily participated. We would like to present the students with red and white wine as a gift to celebrate their coming-of-age ceremony.
