Davao City Beach and Thoughts

The coast of Davao City. Houses are densely packed on the coast and out at sea. High tides and waves can cause major damage. Disasters in developing countries are partly caused by climate change, but they can also be caused by insufficient land use regulations like this.

Even so, although at first glance it seems like they are living in poor conditions, the children's expressions are very happy. And you can sense the mutual support within the community. There must have been a time like this in Japan long ago. I wonder whether an environment with an abundance of material things is a happy one, or not.
