Six days have passed since we left.

Six days have passed since we left Haneda on the morning of February 7th.

We arrived at Lima Airport just after 11pm on the 7th as scheduled. Including a layover in Houston, it was a roughly 27-hour journey. The 14-hour time difference is tough no matter how many times I've been there, waking up multiple times at night and battling sleepiness during the day. After a few days, I got used to it, but on the 9th, I headed to Cusco, at an altitude of 3,500m. Now it was time to battle altitude sickness. I was plagued by headaches and fatigue.

In Lima, we held discussions with JICA and the Ministry of Culture. The Minister, Vice-Minister, and Director General of the Cultural Heritage Bureau were in attendance at the Ministry of Culture, and we felt their high expectations for the Machu Picchu archaeological site survey project. We are truly pleased that the technology and know-how we have cultivated in the Fukushima reconstruction effort is being used and appreciated in other countries. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Otama Village for connecting us with Peru.

Starting on the 10th, we will be holding a training session to transfer technology to engineers from the Cusco Office of the Ministry of Culture. Fifteen engineers from three regional offices are participating. We will do our best until we return home on the 20th.
