Internships for international students

Starting this week on the 26th, Roa (from Papua New Guinea), an international student from Fukushima University, is here for an internship for one week.
This internship is part of the Pacific Island Leadership Education Support Program.
Roa is currently researching "satellite image analysis for water resources" at Fukushima University's Institute of Symbiotic Systems Science and Engineering, and during the internship he gained work experience such as processing images taken from aerial drones, touring sewage treatment facilities, and sewer design.

After work, we held a social gathering at the Tomioka headquarters.
The young employees were a little nervous at first, but as they put their regular English conversation training to good use, they worked hard to communicate, encouraged by their seniors.

As Roa is in charge of development plans for Papua's water environment, the conversation between the staff and other experts, who have extensive experience working overseas, ranged from issues of water pollution and garbage in Japan and Papua's water environments to topics about their respective cultures and histories.
The latter half of the story was too technical for me to understand...
