Received the Special Award at the 39th Tohoku Architecture Awards
The company won a special award at the 39th Tohoku Architecture Awards. Five awards were given to the entire Tohoku region. The awards include the Futaba Co., Ltd. Tomioka Head Office, the Koriyama Branch Office, and the renovation of a storehouse that withstood the tsunami. What they all have in common is the high-quality wood from the mountains left to them by their ancestors in Tomioka Town. 100% produced in Tomioka.
Looking at the other winning works, I noticed that the best work award went to Gakuho Corporation Horiuchi Gakuen, a kindergarten that relocated from Tomioka Town to Koriyama City after the earthquake and reopened. Surprisingly, it's my daughter's alma mater in Tomioka Town. Of the five winning works, two were about Tomioka Town. It feels like fate.
Regarding this award, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone involved, including Haryu Wood Studio in Minamiaizu for the design, Tohoku Kogyo Kensetsu in Namie Town for the construction (whose president is my high school classmate and close friend, Mr. Togawa), and Haganuma Seisaku in Minamiaizu.
